Steve Harvey to try ‘Lose 21 Pounds in 21 Days’ detox diet

New York Daily NewsBY ROSEMARY BLACK

Looks like radio show host Steve Harvey won’t be eating solid food anytime soon. The comedian announced on his morning show that he’s decided to follow the “Lose 21 Pounds in 21 Days” Martha’s Vineyard Diet Detox, according to Gossip Jackal.

The punishing diet program, based on a bestselling book by Roni De Luz and James Hester called “21 Pounds in 21 Days,” encourages disciples to sip fruit and vegetable juices every two hours for three weeks.

Followers of the popular plan aren’t supposed to eat or chew any actual food, according to TheNewsofToday.com. Instead, they drink only liquid calories for three weeks in the belief that they’ll detox their bodies, speed up their metabolism and burn more fat.

Harvey, 53, who also hosts Family Feud, said he’s going on the diet to shed some extra pounds. Fans will be able to check out whether he actually sticks to the program, since there’s a section on the official “Lose 21 pounds in 21 days” website for those who want to monitor his progress. And dieters already on the program can share their experience on a “21 Pounds in 21 Days” Facebook page.
